FAQs
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No, you can book directly with Blackburn Foot Clinic. Many patients come to us without seeing their GP first. If onward referral is needed, we’ll guide you.
Does podiatry treatment hurt?
Most treatments are pain-free. Some patients feel mild discomfort during procedures such as ingrown toenail surgery, but this is always carried out under local anaesthetic to ensure comfort.
How long is an appointment?
What should I bring to my appointment?
• A list of any medications you take
• Comfortable footwear you wear most often (useful for assessments)
• Your GP details (if you have complex medical conditions)
Do you treat children?
Yes — we provide podiatry care for children aged 6 and above, including verrucae treatment (e.g. Verrutop), gait concerns, and nail care.
Can I drive after nail surgery?
You should not drive immediately after nail surgery, as your toe will be anaesthetised. Please arrange alternative transport on the day.
How many Verrutop sessions will I need?
Most verrucae clear within 3–6 sessions, spaced 1–2 weeks apart. Some resolve sooner, while stubborn cases may take longer.
How long does it take fungal nails to clear?
Fungal nails can take 9–12 months to fully grow out. Regular podiatry care and home treatment together give the best results.
Are you HCPC registered?
Yes. All podiatrists at Blackburn Foot Clinic are HCPC registered and adhere to strict professional standards.
Do you accept private health insurance?
Some insurers cover podiatry treatment. Please check with your provider before booking. We can supply receipts for reimbursement if required.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept card payments (contactless, debit, credit) and cash.
